The Challenge
The third block takes us from the central to the western Pyrenees. We begin with a two-day crossing through the area of Bujaruelo and Panticosa, spending the night in the Bachimaña refuge and we face the passage through the highest port of the entire crossing, Teberray (2800 m).
We continue our way through a landscape reminiscent of the Dolomites in the Alps and climb the peak of Anayet to finally arrive at the Zuriza campsite. From here we leave the high mountain and begin the crossing of the mid-mountain between Navarre and the Basque Country.
From Ochagavia (one of the most beautiful towns in Navarre) we arrive at Roncesvalles, the first important sanctuary of the “French Way” in Santiago. We tour the typical mountains of the Atlantic area of the Pyrenees with their forests and ridges of grass and ferns, passing and sleeping in villages such as Elizondo or Vera de Bidasoa.
Before reaching the Cantabric, we pass through the mysterious and legendary Baztan Valley. Our crossing ends at Cabo Higuer where the Pyrenees rushes into the sea.
